New Tricks, New Hampshire
With the wind chill last night, it felt like 6 degrees.
SIX. That’s not very many degrees. In Honolulu I would get cold when the sun set and the temperature dropped from 80 to 77…how hilarious that sounds to me now. (By the way, my meticulously crafted tan—such hard work for us fair-skinned folk who have to slow-cook for months—is looking PRETTY great under all these layers. You’re going to have to trust me on that, though.)
Other than the shocking shift in temperature (and the wild, terrifying sound coming from the woods right now), we are faring well in cozy NH. As my husband and I found today during our “walk,” winter here provides few opportunities to do anything (our walk lasted long enough to take this photo of the farm across the street before we both opted to turn around). Winter should be great for my productivity—just give me some tea and a space heater.
Speaking of productivity, this is my highly organized process for scripting the film (complete with chocolate stains). I am working to finish a rough cut this week in order to apply for a mentorship for first-time filmmakers in NYC. With 20 minutes down, here’s hoping I can churn out another 20-40 minutes by Monday! (impossible? perhaps…) Two things that may help or hinder this endeavor (depending how well I can resist distraction) are the new juicer and dehydrator I just ordered. The whole family is starting on this vegetable-centered diet, so I am eager to start experimenting with kale chips and vegetable juices. Hopefully all the vegetables turn me into a super productive, bionic über-editor. Here’s to drinking juice and making movies!
We may be back on the mainland, but we’re back with a few new tricks up our (coat) sleeves.
